Description
Ketepa Purple Tea is rich in anthocyanin (a flavanoid), the plant itself has a red-purple color but the tea comes out with a slightly purple hue. That regal color is as a result of high levels of anthocyanins, which have many anti-inflammatory, anti-viral-benefits, anti-cancer benefits, anti-diabetes properties, anti-obesity benefits, cardiovascular benefits and more.
Purple Tea like all teas, originates from the Camellia sinensis plant, the same plant from which we get our familiar black and green tea.
Purple tea has a very pleasant sweet flavor that is very much like green tea, but with less astringency, bitterness and caffeine content. This amazing new variety of the classic tea plant is a very recent discovery and is extremely healthy.
It was developed by Kenya Tea Research Institute (TRI) over a period of 25 years of research and naturally produces purple-reddish leaves unlike the typical green tea leaves. This rare variety is grown in higher and cooler elevations of between 4,500 to 7,500 feet which allows the plant to sustain more intense sun rays which cause it to produce high concentrations of anthocyanins and polyphenols than black and green tea.
Ketepa tea is grown at high altitude astride the equator in the highlands of Kenya. Rich volcanic soils, selection of the best tea gardens, careful hand picking and efficient factory processing all combine to give you premium quality tea with that refreshing aroma and taste. No pesticides are applied on Kenyan tea due to favorable climatic conditions thus ensuring a healthy beverage. Ketepa has invested in the state of the art sealing and packaging machinery that ensure hygiene during production.
